Tree Dismantling in Nottingham & Leicester

Dismantling a tree is an ideal method for trees that are overhanging buildings and property, dead, dangerous or sites which have difficult access or limited space.

How to Dismantle a Tree

When a tree is being removed it cannot always be felled. The crown may have to be taken down in sections for safety or to avoid property damage. This process involves rope access into the canopy along with rope techniques to lower the branches and timber to the ground in a controlled manner.

Tree Dismantling Techniques

Only a professional, fully qualified tree surgeon that knows what they're doing should dismantle a tree because of how dangerous it is, and how easily it can go wrong.

These are the steps that your tree surgeon should take when dismantling a tree.

Step 1: Anchor Main Climbing Rope

The Tree Surgeon will climb to the top of the tree to anchor his main climbing rope; a rigging pulley with a rated line will be placed around a structural branch collar at the top of the tree.

Step 2: Dismantling The Tree

The climber will then start dismantling the tree, typically starting with the lower branches and working upwards. The larger branches will be carefully lowered to the ground via the ground crew using a rope, this is for safety and to avoid any unnecessary damage to the surrounding area.

Once all of the branches have been removed, the tree surgeon will then begin cutting the main tree stump in small sections from the top to bottom.

Step 3: Stump Removal

After the tree has been fully dismantled and only the tree stump remains just above ground level, the tree surgeon can then remove the tree stump by grinding it to below ground level. This obviously comes at additional cost. Otherwise you may leave the stump visible, however it's worth keeping in mind that the stump will likely start sprouting again, so if you don't mind living with the tree stump, we would recommend applying tree stump removal chemicals to ensure it does not start sprouting again.

Can I Dismantle a Tree Myself?

The practice of dismantling a tree can be very dangerous and requires specialist equipment, tools, knowledge and small team of people who know exactly what they are doing.

We strongly recommend not to attempt this yourself and instead, hire a professional team of tree surgeons that specialise in tree dismantling.
